ABB REM610 Motor Protection Relay – Reliable Protection for LV and HV Motors
The ABB REM610 is a high-performance motor protection relay designed for medium-sized and large low-voltage (LV) motors and small to medium high-voltage (HV) motors in manufacturing and process industries. Although discontinued since 2017, the REM610 remains a trusted solution in many installations due to its robust protection, measurement, and supervision capabilities.
Part of ABB’s renowned Relion® 610 product series, the REM610 ensures comprehensive motor protection, supporting applications with both circuit-breaker and contactor-controlled motor drives. Its plug-in design enables easy commissioning, fast maintenance, and secure handling.
The REM610 offers enhanced thermal overload protection, phase overcurrent protection, earth-fault detection, and phase unbalance protection. With optional add-on cards, it supports RTD sensor or thermistor element integration for direct temperature measurement of motor bearings and windings—extending its protection scope to cable feeders and distribution transformers.
Certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) for marine and offshore use, the REM610 also supports multiple communication protocols, including IEC 61850, Modbus®, Profibus, SPA, and LON, ensuring seamless integration into various automation systems.
